Day 2! It's great!

Day 2! Wow! What a difference a day makes. Sophie was great! She is starting to warm up to us. She woke up this morning about 6:50, she stood up in her crib and said...me.. or eh.. or something to that sound. I walked and and she reached out to me. We fed her breakfast and decided she needed a bath. According to her records she loves baths....WRONG! She hates them! I had to hold her down and wash her in 5 mins. She did not want anything to do with the bath toys. She just threw them across the tub. So I hurried and washed then removed her. She basically chilled out on the couch with her book and talked on the cell phone. As you can see in the pictures below she is fully aware of the phone. She likes watching looney toones with her Pop. We have quickly figured out that she hates getting dressed and undressed. She screams everytime we try and change her.

This morning at 9:00 we had to go and apply for Sophie's passport, after that we went to the market to get food and shop around. We stopped by the coffee shop for a snack (she had milk and cheerios). This is when we figured out that she is trying us on for size. She had her milk and Pop was helping her with the straw. After 5 mins. of that she decided she wanted to do it herself. So we let her hold the glass of milk for 1 min. only to figure out she just wanted to play with it. We were so afraid that she would drop the glass that we took it away from her.........she screamed! That being said she is defiently on track for the toddler stage. She is very independent, she even tries to brush her own teeth.

Finally we made it back to the apartment and it was nap time. She wouldn't lay in her crib, so I just laid her in the bed with me until she feel asleep. I laid her on her back and began patting her head. And for the first time she made eye contact with me. She just watched me with her big black eyes while I sang to her. She then reached out her little hands and started touching my forehead, nose and eyes. She kept pulling my eyelashes and rubbing her hand on my forehead. At that moment I knew things would be o.k. She trusted me!

We are very lucky because she has started to accept both Hank and I. More pics tomorrow.

Yes my head is shiny..it is funky hot in buildings here. But the air outside is worse.

I can totally do this all by myself.

Chillin' at the Highlands coffee.

Isn't this just Ergoiffic?

The BIGGEST doe eyes!

I talked to YaYa and Grandma on the Pop's phone this morning.

Looks like you guys had a great day! Yes, toddlers tend to want their independance - that's a good sign!!! Thanks for keeping us all updated. It gives us the feeling that we're all right there with you!!! Give that beautiful daughter of yours a big kiss from her YaYa, Uncle Tim, and cousins Jack & Mason!!!

Sophie is SO precious. Just a note about the bath...the tub will probably be something she isn't used to. It may go better if you try the sink. That was more agreeable with Micah, anyway.
